The mission of the Horticulture Program is:

To provide quality programs for members of the commercial horticulture community, with an emphasis on integrated pest management (IPM), pesticide training, and innovative, localized research.

To help Rensselaer County consumers maintain and improve their homes and grounds using environmentally-sound horticultural practices.

To create a dynamic Master Gardener program, which fosters leaders and teachers willing to share their knowledge with the community

Come join us in 2010 as we take a look at a variety of gardening topics sure to beautify your home and enliven your spirit. Each class starts at 7:00 PM and runs until about 8:30 PM. 30 Hour Training Course for Pesticide Applicators

February 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 2010. This course is offered as part of the training requirements needed for people seeking to become certified as pesticide technicians in category 3a or 7a by NYSDEC. Registrations taken on a first come, first served basis. Registration is open until Jan. 26th. Click here to view brochure and print registration form.

Turfgrass 101

Feb. 23 & 24, 2010. This program will introduce you to some of the basics of growing turfgrass in the Capital District. Classes will be held at the Troy office from 9:30am-3:00pm. DEC credits will be 3.75 for attending day 1 and 4.25 for day 2. To view brochure and registration form click here.

Spring Garden Day

Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 8:45am-3:30pm at the Brunswick/Brittonkill High School in Troy.
